All About Me
EARLY LIFE
I grew up in Fayetteville, Georgia, where I spent my childhood being bossed around by a nurturing older sister and Southern parents who were Educators. My parents instilled an ethic of hard work early on for my sister and me. Somehow, I found golf clubs and building blocks much more entertaining than Barbie dolls. Dad’s family roots run deep in East Alabama, and many of my summer memories include barefoot summers in nearby Lafayette. In 1999 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and the health battle began. Life throws you obstacles, but it’s those you surround yourself with that make all the difference. Calm waters never did produce a good sailor!
GOLF
Chasing golf balls around the nation paid off and I accepted a scholarship to play golf for Auburn University. I spent five glorious years on the Plains. Hall of Fame coach Kim Evans led our team to two SEC championships while I was there, and I am proud to say that I tacked on four more individual titles due to hard work and a creative short game! Our program held an All-American cast of talent and personality, and I’ll cherish those memories always. I earned my LPGA card soon after graduation from Auburn, but unfortunately, my short pro career was derailed by resurfacing injuries. It was back to square one.
REAL ESTATE
Big siblings are irreplaceable, and my sister Tricia happens to be a great mom, driven businesswoman, and community enhancer. Tricia and her business partner Nonet Reese built a great culture and team at Three Sixty Real Estate here in Auburn, and I'm proud to hang my license under their brokerage.
Sometimes I miss golf, but I’ve been happy to realize that I can utilize many of the same talents that led me to the LPGA tour in my chosen career in Real Estate. I have a passion for people and in connecting those who add value, and naturally, I become friends with my clients and vendor partners. I love that in Auburn, everyone is one big family. Life is too short for people who don’t greet their neighbors with War Damn Eagle!
BUILDING
Over the years I’ve been happy to see that professions once seen as gender-specific are evolving. It makes perfect sense that the person who understands the livability, design, and functionality of a home would also oversee the trades who piece it all together. I believe in great people, better communication, and overcoming issues as they arise. My building style has been developed by asking why and why not. I'm not afraid to push the envelope – someone has to do it!
COMMUNITY
I have had to come to terms with my diabetes diagnosis and the challenges it brings to my life every day. In 2009, in an effort to help others in our community, I co-founded the annual “Swing 4 Diabetes” golf tournament with Auburn great Kendall Simmons. Over the years we have donated over $400,000 to the Diabetes Center at East Alabama Medical Center. Supporting research for a cure helps me to deal with the disease, and our annual fundraising campaigns have been a benefit to this community that I love so much.
